This project is situated atop the mountain hill in Montecito. The site has a narrow profile to the north and opens up to the south. The primary design challenge is to maintain the southern view while minimizing direct sun exposure. The strategies for this project include:

1. Establishing a north-south axis to complement the existing site geometry.

2. Implementing a large overhead roof to shield the south and west sides of the building from sunlight.

3. Highlighting wall elements as a key feature of the building's design.

4. Incorporating small-scale open spaces throughout the building to foster a connection with the surrounding natural environment.
